MHS.1 ***BOAT TRIP ELEPHANTS
& TEMPLES |
| Start from your hotel at 9 a.m. for a 15-20
minutes drive to Pai River. Travel by boat through afforested countryside
with charming views to the Burmese border and return to the Paduang ("Longneck")
Karen village of refugees from Burma. Originally semi-nomadic farmers in
the jungle,they now rely for income from the sale of handicrafts and donations
from visitors (made by our guide on your behalf). The women wear striking
clothing and the neck rings from which the name dervers. Return by boat
and drive to the elephant camp for a ride on elephant back into the forest.
After lunch drive to Mae Hong Son for afternoon tour of the temples of Kong
Moo, Phra Non, and the twin temples Lakeside of Jong Klang and Jong Kam.
Return to your hotel.

| Start from your hotel at 9 a.m. Our first
visit will be to the sacred Fish Cave. This is located in a shady forest
park, next to a holy shrine and is home to giant carp. From here we drive
to Mae Aw, climbing to the Meo and Shan villages, Burmese in origin. We
continue the drive to the Kokmintung (Kuomintang) village on the borders
with Myanmar (Burma). These farmers fled China at the end of the most beautiful
scenery in the district.

*** HILL TRIBES TOUR |
| Start from your hotel at 9 a.m. to drive for
about 1 1/2 hours to a Meo village passing through hillsides of tropical
rainforest. In the village we can witness the traditional lifestyle and
farming methods of these people whose animist beliefs and culture remain
firmly adhered to by them. We return to Mae Hong Son for Lunch. In the afternoon
we shall visit the longneck,Long Ear and Red Karen village of Hua Sua Tao,
described in tour D.

*** CAVE LOD TOUR |
| Start from your hotel at 9 a.m. driving north
for our first visit - to the sacred Fish Cave. From here we drive to a village
of the so-called "Black" Lahu tribe. Originally from Tibet they
still live a basic life according to their traditions and are regarded as
the most outgoing and friendly of the hill tribes. From here we drive to
a Lisu village. These people came from China originally. Their dress is
very colourful. Our final destination is one of the biggest caves in South
East Asia. We tour the cave with torches to view the array of stalagmites
and stalactites. Buried deep within the chambers of the cave are tombs and
ancient ceramics from the past. Return by road to Mae Hong Son. |

MHS.5 ***ONE DAY TREK,ELEPHANT
RIDE&BAMBOO RAFTING |
| Start from your hotel at 9 a.m. to drive to
the elephant camp for a 1 hour ride in deep forest on elephant back, crossing
the Pai River to take rafts for a trip on the river for about 1 1/2 hours.
We start the trek with 40 minutes walk in flat country then ascend for about
1 hour and, following a descent of about 40 - 50 minutes, finish the walk
with 20 - 30 minutes on level ground again. Return to your hotel by car. |
